Man asks woman on date after robbing her at gun point

An Indianapolis woman was left traumatized after a harrowing encounter with an armed robber outside her home, only to receive a surprising message on Facebook from the very suspect who had robbed her. Amber Beraun recounted the incident, explaining how she was approached by a man while checking her mailbox early one morning last month. The assailant brandished a firearm, demanding entry into her home. However, Beraun refused to comply with his demands, refusing to put herself in further danger.

Reluctantly, Beraun handed over approximately $100 in cash to the suspect, later identified as Damien Boyce. After receiving the money, Boyce allegedly instructed Beraun to add him as a friend on Facebook, while still pointing the gun at her. In an effort to appease him and ensure her safety, she obliged and added him as a friend on the social media platform.

To her surprise, Boyce began messaging her on Facebook, showering her with compliments and even asking her out on a date. In one message, he wrote, “Damn you was too pretty to rob,” and expressed a desire to pay her back. Beraun responded cautiously, acknowledging the difficult circumstances but maintaining her composure. Meanwhile, Boyce continued to press her, inviting her to “come chill” with him.

The incident has left Beraun on edge, realizing that criminals may be lurking in her neighborhood, searching for opportunities to commit crimes. The unsettling experience has heightened her vigilance and made her more cautious about unusual noises or activities during the night.

It is worth noting that Boyce had already been involved in a separate armed robbery just a week prior to the incident with Beraun. During that incident, he allegedly engaged in an argument, shooting two individuals and assaulting another with a brick. Following a police response, Boyce surrendered and faced charges related to burglary, possession of a weapon, criminal recklessness, and battery.

In connection with the armed robbery of Amber Beraun, Boyce was arrested last Wednesday and is being held on a $7,500 bond. The unusual turn of events highlights the impact of social media in our lives, even in unexpected and unsettling circumstances. While Beraun’s decision to comply with Boyce’s request may have diffused the situation temporarily, it serves as a reminder of the potential risks involved in online interactions, even with individuals involved in criminal activities.
