Disney has found itself in the crosshairs of conservative critics this week following an incident involving a male employee wearing a dress and makeup.
The controversy erupted when a TikTok video featuring a Disneyland employee named Nick went viral, showcasing him donning a uniform dress and colorful eyeshadow while working at the Anaheim amusement park.
In the video, Nick, identified as one of the Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices, warmly greeted a young girl and offered to assist her with her selections for the day.

While the TikTok clip garnered millions of views, it also sparked a backlash from conservative critics who took issue with a male employee wearing makeup and a dress while on duty at the park.
Social media platforms quickly became a battleground for the debate. One Twitter user expressed their disapproval, stating, “A man in drag is not only bizarre and inappropriate but it takes guests out of the ‘show’ – the illusion is broken.”
Conservative political commentator Dave Rubin chimed in, remarking, “Think how many real girls want that job at Disney, and they gave it to him for a reason… Not a ‘trans’ person.”
Jenna Ellis, a lawyer who previously worked for former President Donald Trump, added her voice to the chorus of criticism, tweeting, “This is disgusting and wrong. I remember when the ‘Disney Look’ didn’t even let women wear certain nail polish colors. Now THIS?!”
While Disney has yet to respond directly to the conservative backlash surrounding their Anaheim amusement park, they did make an announcement last summer about promoting inclusivity.
The company revealed that the title “Fairy Godmother in Training” would be replaced with “Fair Godmother’s Apprentices” to accommodate cast members who might not identify as female.
Disney explained that the change aimed to ensure that all cast members could participate in dressing up and styling children without having to assume a strictly female character identity.
However, the decision faced intense criticism at the time, with some former Disney fans calling for boycotts of the company’s parks and movies.
As the debate over gender expression and inclusivity rages on, Disney finds itself at the center of a cultural tug-of-war, navigating the delicate balance between tradition and progress.
The $160 billion entertainment corporation must carefully consider the impact of its policies and actions, as public opinion on such matters continues to be fiercely divided.
