A 77-year-old woman was knocked unconscious when she walked into a scene of a man trying to escape a robbery at a New York City bookstore.
Now, police are asking for the public’s help finding the suspect.
The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the Bookstore on East 17 Street, according to NYPD officials. That store is located near the popular Union Square and is almost always filled with patrons.
Police said a robbery suspect tried to leave the store with merchandise he did not pay for.
When loss prevention employees confronted the suspect near the entrance, he pushed a 77-year-old woman to the ground as she was walking into the store. Video surveillance showed the scene and the woman being knocked out as the suspect escaped.
The woman had a head injury and was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police said.
The robbery suspect stole two Funko Pop figures, with a total value of $35, according to police. The person was last seen running south through Union Square and then east on East 15th Street.
Police described the suspect as a man in his 20s. He was about 5-feet-3-inches tall with a medium build, dark complexion, black hair and facial hair. He was last wearing blue hooded sweatshirt and grey sweatpants.
