The family of a 6-year-old boy who was shot in Ypsilanti Township, Michigan, earlier this year has filed a lawsuit against their neighbors, TMZ reported. According to the family, Coby Daniel was shot in front of the home of Ryan Le-Nguyen and Michael Inhmathong while retrieving his bike.
Le-Nguyen allegedly chased the child with a sledgehammer and shot him in the arm because he was angry about children leaving their bikes on the sidewalk in front of his home. The family is now seeking $4 million in damages. They say the neighbors should have known children in the neighborhood played near their yard and they should have kept it safe for them.
Le-Nguyen is also accused of showing “aggressive behavior” toward children several times in the past.
Security video from one of the houses shows multiple children frantically running away after hearing shots in the neighborhood. The children then call for help after noticing that Coby had been shot.
Coby’s father, Arnold, said his son is still feeling pain and shock from shooting. Arnold said the child will need trauma counseling.
Le-Nguyen faces multiple charges, including assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, discharging a firearm in or at a building and discharging a firearm in or at a building causing injury, Fox 2 Detroit reported. He is also charged with three added counts of felony firearm in connection with the alleged incident.
An Asian man named Ryan Le-Nguyen threatened a 6 year old Black child with a sledgehammer after the child rode his bike in his yard. Le-Nguyen then went in the house, got a gun & shot the child. According to Arnold, his son talked back to Le-Nguyen after the neighbor came out with a sledgehammer and said something to Coby. Le-Nguyen allegedly went back inside after the exchange and shot a gun through the front window, hitting the boy in the arm, as Blavity previously reported.
“He tried hitting me with a sledgehammer but that’s not going to work because I’m too fast. [Then he] got a gun and BOOM shot me right here,” Coby said.
The suspect was released with a $10,000 bond.
“I’m trying to figure out how he got a bond that’s so low for trying to kill my kid,” Arnold said.

From this article, “Le-Nguyen allegedly chased the child with a sledgehammer and shot him in the arm because he was angry about children leaving their bikes on the sidewalk in front of his home”. It could be that he “allegedly” did this because no one ever talked to him about it, or took a police statement from him. When I was young, sixty years ago, there were a couple of mean neighbors that would take your ball if it landed in their yard, or do something to an unattended bicycle in their yard. We didn’t play near their property, and avoided such incidents. If it were known that this neighbor had a problem with the bicycles, why were the kids still parking in front of his house? Were the other parents in the neighborhood unaware of this man’s attitude towards children, or was it they did not care? That being said, he should be charged with attempted murder, as that was clearly his intent.
Wow…this murdering idiot gets out on bail…why? He needs to be locked away for good.
Next time he will fully succeed. That goes to show you justice in our nation.
Perhaps is was not his intent, but I´m sure he could have. A person like that should HAVE to move from that neighborhood. At least the court should “dictate” that.
And let him move to another neighborhood where the neighbors would not be told of how dangerous he is?
What do you expect from a Country that has been turned upside down by it’s so called leadership. This should not be surprising, or shocking considering how the government lets BLM and Antifa run rampant throughout our Country and do absolutely nothing about it. The point here is that some people have been emboldened to think that this kind of behavior will be tolerated, especially when Morons in their own Government are constantly calling to defund the Police. Get out and vote, and let them know that ” We The People ” are their Bosses, and we will not tolerate this insanity.
