A 77-year-old woman was found decapitated at her home in southern France.
Her head was reportedly found on a table while her body lay beside, a source reportedly said.
Another source within the police force said the case was not being treated as terror-related and hadn’t been referred to anti-terror prosecutors.
Her body was found by police after her son grew increasingly concerned when he failed to hear from his mother, who he would talk to every day, the Daily Mail reports.
Her son said he also became suspicious when he saw a shadow on the ground at his mother’s home thanks to him being connected to it via video link.
There were no signs of a break in at the home at the Mediterranean resort of Agde in the Herault region, police have said.
The outside gate was shut while the front door was unlocked.
There are currently no further details on the case and police still haven’t announced any specific line of inquiry, police said.
