Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is once again facing deeply uncomfortable questions about his past after explosive claims about a secret journal detailing his sex life resurfaced in a new book.
Long before he became Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kennedy allegedly documented intensely private and graphic thoughts in what has been described as a hidden “sex diary” — a journal that reportedly contained raw confessions, complaints about his marriage, and references to what he called his “lust demons.” The disturbing allegations are now back in the spotlight, threatening to reopen one of the most troubling chapters in his personal history.
According to the account, the journal was discovered by Kennedy’s second wife, Mary Richardson, during the unraveling of their marriage. The couple, who married in 1994 shortly after Kennedy’s divorce from his first wife, eventually became locked in a bitter split that played out under tragic circumstances. The private writings Richardson allegedly found were said to include references to dozens of other women and deeply personal entries that painted a chaotic picture of Kennedy’s state of mind.
One entry from the summer of 2001 reportedly showed Kennedy reflecting on his life in a way that sounded both restless and revealing. Despite writing that he had a beautiful family, wealth, education, good health, and work he loved, he allegedly admitted that none of it felt like enough. The message was clear: no matter how much he had, he still wanted more.
That theme reportedly ran throughout the journal.
The writings, later described as a “sex diary” or “lust logbook,” allegedly included explicit references to temptations, encounters, and what Kennedy framed as an ongoing moral struggle. In some passages, he appeared to cast blame on his marriage, complaining about his sex life with Richardson and portraying their relationship as cold and disconnected. In one particularly unsettling entry, he allegedly described their bed as “an unfriendly place” and complained that intimacy had all but vanished.
Elsewhere, the reported journal entries were even more jarring. Kennedy allegedly cataloged his supposed “conquests” and used a rating system that, according to a confidant of Richardson’s, referred to different sexual acts. In another entry, he reportedly described nearly being “mugged” by two women, framing the encounter as a test of temptation that he resisted through prayer.
The scandal surrounding the alleged diary first made headlines years ago, but it is now being revived in the new book RFK, Jr.: The Fall and Rise, putting fresh attention on the contradictions surrounding one of the most controversial figures in American politics. For critics, especially those already alarmed by Kennedy’s record on public health, vaccines, and conspiracy-driven rhetoric, the resurfacing allegations add another layer to a public image many see as unstable, erratic, and deeply troubling.
Kennedy denied the existence of the diary when he was confronted about it in 2013, insisting he had no such journal from 2001 and declining further comment. But the controversy never fully disappeared.
Instead, it seemed to follow him.
Questions about Kennedy’s private conduct flared up again in 2024, when rumors spread that he had been involved with former New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi while still married to actress Cheryl Hines. Nuzzi was later suspended after disclosing that she had engaged in a personal relationship with a former campaign subject, a revelation that quickly fueled speculation and reignited scrutiny over Kennedy’s history with women.
Now, with the old allegations roaring back into public view, the scandal is once again casting a shadow over Kennedy’s already polarizing role in national life. For a man entrusted with overseeing the health and well-being of millions of Americans, the resurfacing of such deeply personal and disturbing claims is likely to raise fresh questions not just about his judgment, but about the chaos that has long seemed to follow him.

I am so sorry that the Kennedy clan has had to put up with him. Too many of us were hoping he might be the reincarnation of his father.
