Sarah Ferguson is back in the headlines after newly unsealed Epstein files revealed she once told the disgraced financier to “marry me” — just six months after he walked out of a Florida jail.
The messages, part of more than three million documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice, paint an unexpectedly cozy picture between the former Duchess of York and Jeffrey Epstein, who had just finished a 13-month sentence for soliciting sex from underage girls.
In one email, Ferguson appears to gush: “You are a legend… my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness. Xx I am at your service. Just marry me.”
The files offer no explanation or context for the exchange — but they include more eyebrow-raising notes. While Epstein was still serving his sentence in June 2009, he allegedly asked Ferguson to arrange a “VIP tour” or “access to something special” in London for the daughter of Alan Dershowitz. Fergie’s reported reply: “I can organise anything.”
Another email from September 2009 appears to show Ferguson joking — or not — about Epstein marrying a woman with a “great body,” adding, “Ok, well marry me, and then we will employ her.”
The trove also includes messages where Ferguson thanks Epstein for complimenting her in front of her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. “I have never been more touched by a friend’s kindness,” she appears to write, later calling him “the brother I have always wished for” and “a legend.”
And the friendly tone didn’t stop there. The documents suggest Ferguson invited Epstein to Prince Andrew’s 50th birthday celebration at St. James’s Palace in 2010, writing: “Beatrice, Eugenie and I would love to invite you… It will be suits and cocktail dresses, and you know me, mysterious mischief.”
Epstein later responded that he was “not able” to attend.
The emails do not allege any criminal behavior by Ferguson, and no messages suggest she was involved in Epstein’s offenses. The former Duchess of York has long expressed regret over ever knowing him, saying she “abhors” abuse and considers her connection to Epstein “a gigantic error of judgment.”
