Extraordinary new documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice have surfaced explosive and unverified claims made by Jeffrey Epstein about Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, allegations Gates has forcefully denied.

The files include emails Epstein wrote to himself on July 18, 2013, in which the disgraced financier accused Gates of contracting a sexually transmitted disease after allegedly sleeping with Russian women and then seeking antibiotics to secretly protect his then-wife, Melinda, from becoming infected.

In one of the emails, Epstein appeared furious over what he described as Gates abruptly ending their friendship. He claimed Gates had begged him to delete emails related to the alleged STD and to help obtain antibiotics that could be given to Melinda without her knowledge. Epstein also complained that Gates had “disregarded our friendship developed over the last six years,” writing that he was “dismayed beyond comprehension.”

The emails appear to be drafted as if they were written by Gates’ former top adviser, Boris Nikolic, around the time Nikolic resigned from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In another draft email from the same day, Epstein — again seemingly writing from Nikolic’s perspective — claimed he had been pulled into a serious marital dispute between Bill and Melinda Gates.

That message alleged Nikolic had been asked to participate in behavior ranging from “morally inappropriate” to “ethically unsound,” including helping Gates obtain drugs related to the consequences of sex with Russian women and assisting with other questionable personal requests. The emails also referenced alleged pressure to use medical access improperly, despite Nikolic not having prescription authority.

None of Epstein’s claims have been independently verified. They are part of a massive new release of hundreds of thousands of documents tied to Epstein that the Justice Department made public on Friday.

Gates responded angrily to the allegations in a rare public statement, calling them “absolutely absurd and completely false.” His spokesperson said the emails only demonstrate Epstein’s resentment after losing access to Gates and his willingness to smear powerful people. “The only thing these documents show is Epstein’s frustration and the lengths he would go to entrap and defame,” the spokesperson said.

The document release also included several previously unseen photos showing Gates and Epstein together at social gatherings, including images taken at Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse. In one photo, Gates is pictured smiling beside a woman whose face was redacted.

Gates has acknowledged in the past that he regrets meeting with Epstein but has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. Epstein died by suicide in a New York City jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

Bill and Melinda Gates were married from 1994 until their divorce in 2021. Melinda Gates has said Gates’ affairs and his relationship with Epstein played a role in the breakup, though she has never publicly detailed the extent of those issues. Reports have previously indicated she began consulting divorce lawyers in 2019 after learning more about her husband’s meetings with Epstein.

Earlier investigations by The New York Times revealed Gates met with Epstein multiple times beginning in 2011, years after Epstein’s conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor. Gates later admitted those meetings were a mistake, saying they “didn’t result in what he purported” and that he cut off contact.
