President Joe Biden delivered a biting—yet crowd-pleasing—message on Juneteenth, pointedly refusing to say Donald Trump’s name and instead making the sign of the cross, a gesture that sent churchgoers in Galveston, Texas, into fits of laughter.
The moment came during a passionate address at the historic Reedy Chapel AME Church, one of the original sites where freedom was proclaimed for enslaved people in Texas in 1865. Biden used the setting to defend Juneteenth’s place as a federal holiday—a status he signed into law in 2021—and to call out Republican attempts to rewrite history.
“Still today, some say to me and you that this doesn’t deserve to be a federal holiday. They don’t want to remember… the moral stain of slavery,” Biden said, his voice rising. Without missing a beat, he took aim at “ongoing efforts to erase history,” a thinly veiled swipe at Trump and his allies who have railed against “woke” textbooks and the teaching of America’s racist past.
When the president referenced “this guy”—stopping short of naming Trump—he instead paused, crossed himself dramatically, and looked upward. The sanctuary erupted in laughter and applause, a rare show of levity in a speech heavy with historical weight. “You gotta pray for him,” Biden joked, earning more cheers.
Biden’s remarks came just hours after Trump ranted on Truth Social about “too many non-working holidays,” a post that drew backlash from historians and civil rights leaders. While Trump didn’t specifically mention Juneteenth, the timing was impossible to ignore. “It must change if we are going to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote, even as sources inside his camp admitted he has no concrete plan to repeal any holidays.
Biden, meanwhile, didn’t let the subject drop. He slammed GOP-backed attempts to erase slavery from textbooks and blasted Trump’s recent vow to bring back Confederate names at Army bases—a policy reversal Biden called “an insult to Black Americans and to the truth.”
“What are we doing now? Reinstating those names,” Biden said, referencing Trump’s campaign trail promise at Fort Bragg to restore Confederate titles to U.S. military installations. “Darkness can hide much, but it can erase nothing,” Biden declared, drawing a standing ovation from the congregation.
After the speech, several local leaders praised Biden’s willingness to “call out whitewashing of history.” Reverend Lisa Henry of Houston told us, “It’s a relief to see a president who won’t back down from the truth—even when it’s uncomfortable for some.”
As Juneteenth takes on new urgency amid ongoing debates over race, memory, and justice, Biden’s speech was a reminder that some battles for truth are still being fought—not just in history books, but on the national stage.

Biden is a Joke. He was a Joke for four years and continues to be a joke. He is a traitor to our Country and to the Citizens of this Country. There is a SPECIAL place in Hell for Biden and all those that perpetuated his illegal activities with China, Russa and North Korea.
They shouldn’t laugh at vegetable Jokementia…
He got it wrong. It was the Democratic Party that tried to erase history.

Juju
You need to face reality! Pronouns vs he or she, biological males competing in woman’s sports, million and millions of illegals let into the country and then given benefits at the expense of citizens and the fact it was the democrats who fought a war to keep slavery! Those are the democrat facts! This is all wrong. You may hate Trump but setting those things right is good,
Erase history. Who got rid of the confederate statues. ? Who brought this country down from inside? Who brought more racism in this country like Obama? Juju tell me oh by the way list history. What about our history on Indigenous Indians. ? What about them. Blacks have a whole month a whole day and indigenous Indians don’t even get an honorable mention
Go Joe!
Then people wonder why politicians are being threatened. Wonder why their are so many problems that Biden allowed others to cause. I find nothing to laugh at with that. Yes history is important but who destroyed it the last five years? It wasn’t the republicans it was paid puppets. Joe should know the feeling as the biggest puppet in Obama kingdom. This is clear elder abuse and for what a laugh at something not a bit funny. Does this country think it’s ok to say things like this about others? Enough of the stupidity and threat’s to others. What happen to don’t say anything if can’t say anything nice? For people who are religious they say, maybe you need to go back to church and ask for forgiveness and repent. So much for being Christian’s or Catholic anymore. To make a cross like that is not something I would ever do. God watches every move of everyone and that is totally wrong, then for those who laughed is just as bad. Devil at work in so many these days. Only true believers will be rewarded. That’s what is wrong in this world. Need to back to reading your bibles and attending church again. Demons among us must face their actions. God protect those who believe and help those who are lost.
