A routine bus ride in the Bronx turned deadly Monday afternoon when a passenger was fatally shot after reportedly telling a loud teen to quiet down during a phone call.

Police said the shocking broad-daylight attack happened around 2:30 p.m. on a BX36 bus near East Tremont Avenue and White Plains Road in Parkchester.

According to police and law enforcement sources, the victim, a 41-year-old man, got into an argument with a teen passenger who was allegedly talking loudly on his cell phone. The dispute quickly spiraled out of control.

The teen, believed to be between 13 and 16 years old, allegedly pulled out a black handgun and shot the man in the stomach, authorities said.

The victim was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, but doctors were unable to save him. He later died from his injuries.

The young gunman fled the scene after the shooting, running south on White Plains Road, according to police. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and remained on the loose Monday afternoon.

The violent scene left a chilling reminder behind, with a blood stain still visible on the sidewalk as police taped off the area around the MTA bus. Officers were seen investigating the bus as commuters and residents watched the aftermath of the deadly encounter unfold.

No arrests had been made as of Monday evening.

The victim’s name has not yet been released by police.

The killing adds to growing concerns over violence on New York City’s transit system, where everyday arguments can suddenly explode into life-or-death confrontations.
