Andrew sent Epstein photos of his daughters. US Department of Justice

Prince Andrew’s legal nightmare is now a full-blown family crisis — and his daughters are scrambling to contain the fallout.

Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35, are said to be “pulling back” from their father after his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office, according to a source who spoke to People. The 66-year-old royal, formally known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was taken into custody this week before being released. His royal title was stripped amid intensifying scrutiny over his long-running ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“They’re trying to stay away from it,” the insider said. “They’re focused on protecting their own children.”

But behind palace doors, the reckoning may run deeper.

According to the same source, the sisters are “putting pieces of the puzzle together” and “realizing they may have been used.” The comment has sent shockwaves through royal watchers already reeling from the latest wave of Epstein-related revelations.

Public opinion in Britain has hardened. The anger is not only directed at Andrew, but also at Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York and mother of the princesses. Ferguson once referred to Epstein as her “supreme friend” and reportedly accepted money from him, even after his 2008 conviction in Florida on charges involving the solicitation of a minor.

The Department of Justice recently released additional files that show both Andrew and Ferguson mentioned their daughters in correspondence with Epstein years after his conviction. In one exchange, Andrew allegedly sent Epstein photographs of Beatrice and Eugenie when they were in their 20s. That reportedly occurred two years after Andrew claimed in a BBC interview that he had cut off all contact with Epstein.

In another email, Epstein allegedly asked Ferguson about travel plans. She reportedly responded with a crude remark referencing Eugenie and a “shagging weekend.” At the time, Eugenie was just days shy of her 20th birthday.

The disclosures have intensified scrutiny of the princesses’ past public appearances with their father. As recently as January, Beatrice was photographed horseback riding with Andrew at Windsor. In December, she invited both parents to her daughter Athena’s christening. The sisters had maintained relationships with both Andrew and Ferguson even as Epstein’s shadow loomed large over the family.

“They’re heartbroken — but a dad is still your dad, and a mom is still your mom,” the source said. Another insider told Woman magazine that the sisters have taken “different positions,” with Eugenie reportedly pushing harder to create distance.

The scandal traces back years. Epstein was accused of operating a sex trafficking network that exploited underage girls, some as young as 14. He died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial.

One of his most prominent accusers, Virginia Giuffre, alleged that Andrew forced her to have sex with him when she was 17. Andrew has repeatedly denied the claims. In his now-infamous 2019 BBC interview, he attempted to provide an alibi, saying he was at a Pizza Express in Woking with Beatrice on the date Giuffre said she met him.

“I was with the children,” Andrew insisted at the time. “I’d taken Beatrice to a Pizza Express.”

Giuffre later wrote in her memoir that Andrew “believed having sex with me was his birthright.”

Now, with Andrew under renewed investigation and official files resurfacing, the royal family faces another reputational earthquake. Buckingham Palace has not issued a detailed public response.

For Beatrice and Eugenie, the path forward is fraught. They are no longer working royals. They are mothers. And they are daughters caught between loyalty and survival.

As Britain watches, one question hangs over the monarchy: can the next generation truly separate itself from the sins of the last?
